Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s First Project for Netflix

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the first docu-series project that they will be doing for Netflix.

 

A new series is getting produced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell productions. 

 

The new series is about The Invictus Games. It is a tournament for wounded veterans that got found in 2014 by Prince Harry. It is an international event where sick military servicemen, whether serving or veterans take part in the sporting event. 

 

The name of this docu-series for now is Heart of Invictus. It will show the behind-the-scenes of the Invictus Games. 

 

This docu-series will follow different amazing competitors from around the world, all of them will be service members that suffered any life-altering illnesses or injuries. 

 

On Tuesday, the Invictus foundation announces that the game will take place in 2022. 

 

Orlando Von Einsiedel will direct Heart of Invictus. Joanna Natasegra, who got an Oscar for The White Helmet documentary will produce this series. 

 

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Hary, will executive produce and appear on the camera in this project. 

 

Prince Harry stated:

“From the very first Invictus Games in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve.” 

 

Furthermore, he said:

“This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year.”

 

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left their royal duties and moved to the US, they started their nonprofit foundation, Archewell.

 

They made Archewell Audio and Archwell Productions and signed contracts with Netflix and Spotify to create content for them.

 

They have launched a podcast as a project of Archwell Audio for Spotify. However, Heart of Invictus is the first project that Archwell Productions announced.

 

Ted Sarandos, who is the Co-CEO and Content Officer of Netflix said that Archwell production’s aim is to make an ambitious slate that will show the values and causes that are close to them.

 

Sarandos further said:

When I met them, I could see that the Invictus Games has a special place in their heart and I was more than happy that the first series will get shown on Netflix in a way that has not gotten seen by anyone in the world before.

 

Furthermore, the fundings from this project will go to Invictus Games Foundation, and the organization will work as the executive producer.

 

The fifth yearly Invictus Games were going to get held in The Hague, Netherlands in 2020. However, because of the pandemic, it got postponed to 2021 and again to 2022.

 

Now the game is set to get held in 2022 in spring, where more than 500 competitors from 20 nations will compete in different sports.

 

According to some reports the revenue, they get from their production company will help them finance their life now that they have moved from their royal duties and live in California.
