Loved Animal Expert to Step Away Due to Dementia

The animal and wildlife expert, Jack Hanna, who became popular after appearing on the TV many times, is now retiring, as it got announced by his family on Wednesday.

On Jack Hanna’s Twitter account, which has gotten verified, his family wrote a statement in which they wrote:
“Doctors have diagnosed our dad, Jack Hanna, with dementia, now believed to be Alzheimer’s disease.”

Furthermore, they wrote:

“His condition has progressed much faster in the last few months than any of us could have anticipated. Sadly, Dad is no longer able to participate in public life as he used to, where people all over the world watched, learned, and laughed alongside him.”

Jack Hanna made appearances on many shows like The Tonight Show, Starring Johnny Carson, Today, and Late Night with David Letterman.

Due to these appearances, Jack Hanna and his animals became highlights of late-night and daytime TV.

Furthermore, these appearances made Jack Hanna get his own shows like Animal Adventures, Into the Wild, and Wild Countdown.

After 42 years the 72-year old retired from being the director of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in December 2020.

In a statement, his daughter wrote:

“The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has been a major part of our lives since we moved to Central Ohio as young girls in 1978. From day one, Dad advocated for improved wildlife habitats and focused on connecting the community with animals. After he left his active management role as Executive Director in 1992, he continued to be a spokesperson for the zoo until his retirement last year.”

The statement was based and tributed to Jack Hanna’s wife Suzi, who supported him and was on his side for 53 years in every corner he went, and the love he has for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

Furthermore, the statement lets us know how Jack Hanna’s health is deteriorating quickly, but his great sense of humor still shines.

They even let the fans know that he still wears khakis even at home.

The family wants Jack Hanns to be given privacy and are grateful for the many hearts he touched and how he strengthens many people.
