eSports is a website dedicated to competitive gaming news and content. Begin your adventure into the esports world!
A term implemented to represent competitive video gaming is Esports or electronic sports.
If you want to compare Esports to conventional video gaming, you should know that Esports is more competitive in human vs. human virtual gaming. Similar to traditional sports, it has viewers who watch excitedly and engage during it.
Like any other tournament, Esports also has gamers (whether beginner or professional) playing against each other to win the prize, usually cash.
An example is how League of Legends has five players playing against other live players in an online battle arena. Another example is how Call of Duty and Counter-Strike have gamers playing competitively as virtual shooters.
Like any athlete, whether a professional footballer or golf player, even Esports pro-gamers know the game inside out and how to play to win. Esports also have gamers who play the game like professionals. Skills and professionalism gets celebrated in Esports.
Gamers can play in teams or one-on-one in games like FIFA and Street Fighter. Each game will have different rules and strategies; one will have to see the game requirement and play accordingly. Like in Halo, it’s about playing in teams where a group of four gamers plays against another group of four players, and in Overwatch, six gamers play against the other six players.
Whether it’s male or female, Esports have both genders playing together and against each other and all mixed, unlike football, where girls and boys have different teams. However, even though Esports is for anyone, there are lesser female pro players. Esports is for anyone, no matter what gender or physical capacity.
Games like League of Legends, Global Offensive: Counter-Strike, Overwatch, Dota, Call of Duty, and many others are some of the most well-known and played Esports games. Professional gamers and teams in Esports get help from trainers, reviewers, and managers to train, play, learn new strategies and win.
You can play some Esports games on Xboxes, PS4, and some on computers, laptops, PCs. Matches get played through the internet or at an event, mostly grand finale using LAN connection. Anyone interested in watching Esports gaming can go to the live gaming event or watch it using the internet through different streaming platforms that show live gaming, like on Twitch.
Esports are not a waste of time, as gamers, especially professional ones, can make decent money out of it. The money a gamer earns will depend entirely on the game, its team, and the player himself. If a gamer is good and has a good team, then such a professional gamer can make more than thousands of dollars every year. They can make this money by getting salaries, sponsorships, and donations from streaming.
Amateur players, not have a contract that provides them with a salary. However, he can make money by streaming, winning tournaments on a lower level, or simply play for the fun.
A continuously discussed topic regarding Esports has been player representation and rules & regulations. When it comes to Esports, developers and publishers make the rules for their games. They have to ensure players are following them, and if one goes against their rule, they are responsible for punishing them when needed.
In recent years, Esports has become famous amongst bookmakers, TV broadcasters, and big non-endemic brands like Coca Cola are now even interested and getting involved in this online gaming world- As Esports is rising and will continue to rise.
