Dark Man X or DMX in the early 1990s began his rapping career, and his first debut album ‘It’d Dark, and Hell Is Hot,” got released in 1998
After the deaths of his fellow rappers like Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G, DMX got the chance and became the ruling star of hip hop and got signed to the Ruffhouse Records label.
His single, “Ruff Ryder Anthem,” was the step to his commercial success.
Over the years, the rapper released many albums, from which many were commercially successful, like “And Then There Was X,” which got released in 1999 and got nominated for the best rap album category for a Grammy.
This nomination was one of the three Grammy nominations he got.
He sold millions of albums and hits like “Get At Me Dog” in 1998, in 1999 “Party Up” and in 2003 “X Gon’ Give It To Ya.’
Furthermore, he got into acting and started his acting career, where he appeared in many movies like ‘Cradle 2 The Grave’ and ‘Romeo Must Die.’

In 2019, he also spoke to GQ about his struggles.
DMX to GQ said:
“I just need to have a purpose. And I don’t even know that purpose, because God has given me that purpose since before I was in the womb, so I’m going to fulfill that purpose … whether I want to or not, whether I know it or not, because the story has already gotten written. If you appreciate the good, then you have to accept the bad.”
