Speedmaster

When talking about the first chronograph watches, Speedmaster will come to your mind. In 1957, the company produced its first chronograph, and the Moonwatch or Speedmaster Professional is the most famous and longest chronograph produced. It is continuously one of the many watches that NASA approved for spaceflight and EVA, they are still the only qualified watch. If you are thinking that the Speedmaster was created for space flights, then you will be surprised to know that they were created as a racing and sports chronograph. Reference CK2915 – Broad Arrow, was the first Speedmaster design powered by the Omega Calibre 321 and crafted with high contrast index markers, triple register chronograph, and a Plexiglas crystal.

Seamaster

Omega started creating water-resistant watches in 1932, and it was Yves Le Prieur, known to be the father of modern diving and invented the modern scuba tank and mask, who wore it during its debut. And then, they introduced the Seamaster in 1947. It was the British military during World War II who wore the first-everSeamaster waterproof wristwatches. What makes the Seamaster different from the others is its O-ring gasket. That resilient rubber gasket enhanced its water resistance, kept the watch intact up to 60 and was able to stand the temperature from -40 degrees to 50 degrees. Upon the return of the Olympics to London in 2012, Seamaster 1948 Co-Axial London 2012 was released, and only 1948 were produced by Omega and what’s unique about this edition is its yellow gold case back with a stamp of jaggedly-shaped London Olympics 2012 logo.

Also, it was aSeamaster Professional Diver 300M that James Bond had worn in six of his movies. In addition to that, the brand created an 007- special which features a rifle pattern on the watch face and 007 logos of the gun on its second hand.

This group of the collection is the brand’s first mass production of watch chronometers. In commemoration of the Constellation jet that assisted the Allied Forces to win World War II, it debuted in 1952. And what makes this edition unique is the single five-pointed star which symbolizes prestige and quality. Also, one of the features of this Constellation collection is the Geneva Observatory logo located on the rear case. In 1952, Omega produced the Constellation collection just for men but then because of innovations. They also began producing ladies’ collections in 1982.

Whoever was existing during the 1950s to 1960s will recognize the domed dial on many of the Constellation watches. And they would often refer to it as a pie-pan dial and is still existing in some modern Globemaster watches. In 1982, the Constellation Manhattan family was introduced by Omega that has stood the test of time. Its unique feature is the four claws from the case to the dials. These famous claws also have their function, and that is to hold the gasket and sapphire crystal to ensure water-resistance. And it was Carol Didisheim who patented and designed in 1985 a case shape of a barrel which showcased a Manhattan feature and made way for designs for men and women in steel and gold.

De Ville

It was in the 1960s when De Ville was launched as part of the Seamaster Collection but moving forward to 1967, the De Ville was introduced as a separate entity from the Seamaster Collection. The De Ville Collection became the most popular, especially because of its sophisticated, classy look. One of the first characteristics of the De Ville Collection is its chronometer certification. And not only that, because some of its watches may have the traditional design, but the features are made out of modern technology. Also, they are one of Omega’s first collections to use the Co-Axial Calibre 2500 produced by English watchmaker George Daniels. and in 2007, the brand utilized the automatic Calibre 8500 and installed the De Ville with it making it more durable and precise. To top it all up, its magnificent dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Special Collection

In 1957, the brand crafted three new technology wristwatches: The Railmaster, The Seamaster 300, and The Speedmaster. The company decided to release the Omega 1957 Trilogy limited edition set that marks the 60th anniversary of each model, and this can either be bought in three or individually. The company used digital technology but preserved the heritage of the 1957 watches. Omega Railmaster 2017 was created for those who worked in the electrical field and scientists because of its double case anti-magnetic watch and produced only about 557 pieces. The Seamaster 2017 is also produced limited to 557 pieces. Designed with a triangular design in the hour marker, powered by Master Chronometer 8806, and is water-resistant. And the Speedmaster 2017, which completed the trio has a tachymeter scale printed on the main dial of the watch, which signifies that it was done for car racers and powered by Omega 1861.
