The 29 Best Jennifer Lawrence Movies

Jennifer Lawrence is sometimes considered to be the most successful actress of her generation. She was the highest-paid actress in the world in 2015 and 2016, and her movies have earned over $5.5 billion globally. She is also the first person from the 1990s to receive an Oscar for acting.

Gary Lawrence, a construction worker, and Karen Lawrence, who operates a children’s camp, welcomed Jennifer Shrader Lawrence into the world on August 15, 1990, in Louisville, Kentucky. She is of English, German, Irish, and Scottish origin and has two older brothers named Ben and Blaine.

When she left for Manhattan at the young age of 14 after failing the 8th grade, her career officially began. Agents attempted to convince her acting mother that she should spend the summer in Manhattan after listening to her perform her first cold read, which they said was “the best cold read by a 14-year-old they had ever heard.” After leaving the agency, an agent saw Jennifer filming an H&M commercial and wanted to take her picture. She received a call from that agent the following day inviting her to the studio for a cold-read audition. Once more, the agents were very taken aback and pleaded with her mother to let her spend the summer in New York City. She did, as luck would have it, and went on to feature in advertisements such as MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16” and in the film The Devil You Know (2013).

Her major break came when she was cast as Ree in the 2010 film Winter’s Bone, which earned her nominations for both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe. Soon after, she was cast as Mystique in the 2011 X-Men: First Class reboot, which became a smashing blockbuster during the summer.

Lawrence received the role of her life around this time when she was selected to play Katniss Everdeen in the big-screen adaptation of the bestselling novel The Hunger Games (2012). With almost $407 million at the US box office, the movie went on to become one of the greatest movies ever, catapulting Lawrence to the top of the list of up-and-coming actors and actresses. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015) had seen the release of three Hunger Games sequels, all starring Jennifer Lawrence.

She featured Roselyn Rosenfield in David O. Russell’s well-known drama-comedy American Hustle (2013) and collaborated with him once more to portray inventor Joy Mangano in another family comedy “Joy (2015)”.
