Reading

Reading is one of the most effective ways to get better at spelling. It will help you familiarize yourself with words, and the more you do it, the better you’ll become.

If you come across any words you’re unfamiliar with; you should try to figure out their meaning. This will help them stick in your mind. Being able to read faster can also be beneficial to everyday life.

Using Spellcheck

Spellcheck tools can help with English spelling, as well as other languages. Whenever you type something up, you should use spellcheck to point out any misspelled words. Even people with good spelling should do this, as mistakes can always be made.

Note that you shouldn’t fully rely on spellcheck, as it’s not right 100% of the time. It can easily miss mistakes when a word is misspelled as another correct word, such as using the incorrect form of “there,” “their,” or “they’re.”

You can get content written up for you using services like iWriter, but you should still check through this yourself, just in case.

Quizzing Yourself

The only true way to assess if you’re getting better at spelling is to test yourself. By doing this, you can better figure out where you’re struggling.

As you’re getting better at spelling, you can test yourself with more challenging words. Measure your progress to see your growth and better address specific words that are causing you trouble.

Practice Daily

Like any kind of learning, the key is study and repetition. Put aside some time each day to practice spelling. Even if it’s just 15 minutes, it will help you improve.

Rather than practicing using the same methods every day, you should mix things up. This will provide a better challenge and help you stay engaged.

Play Word Games

Practice can get boring, even when trying new styles. Fortunately, there are plenty of word games out there that you can play. Board games like scrabble work well, but you’ll need to get someone to play with you.

These days you can much more easily download games on a mobile device, such as Scrabble Go or Words With Friends. This is a great way to practice and can be a lot of fun.

How to Get Better at Spelling

Knowing how to get better at spelling is only a part of the battle. If you want to improve, it will take time and effort. To get better, you need to make sure you’re taking the time to learn and practice, even if it’s just for a small amount of time each day.
