The rapper known for his music and disputes, D.M.X., has died at 50 years of age, as announced by his family.
50 Years (1970-2021)
D.M.X., in a family statement, said:
“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, D.M.X., birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days.”
Furthermore, they added:
“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart, and we cherish the times we spent with him.”
According to Murray Richman, who has been his long-time attorney, the artist had gotten hospitalized after he suffered a heart attack last week in his New York home.
Many artists, athletes, and other celebrities took to social media on Friday to pay their tributes to him.
Chriss Redd, the actor, tweeted:
“My childhood and love for music would not have been the same without this man. D.M.X. was easily my favorite artist growing up. I had every album, every ruff Ryder song, followed any artist he endorsed. Man…. R.I.P. the dog. There will never be another like him.”

After the deaths of his fellow rappers like Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., D.M.X. got the chance, became the ruling star of hip hop, and got signed to the Ruffhouse Records label.
His single, “Ruff Ryder Anthem,” was the step to his commercial success.
Over the years, the rapper released many commercially successful albums, like “And Then There Was X,” released in 1999, and got nominated for the best rap album category for a Grammy.
This nomination was one of the three Grammy nominations he got.
He sold millions of albums and hits like “Get At Me Dog” in 1998, 1999 “Party Up,” and 2003 “X Gon’ Give It To Ya.’
Furthermore, he got into acting and started his acting career, appearing in movies like ‘Cradle 2 The Grave’ and ‘Romeo Must Die.’
However, at times, his achievements were overshadowed by his problems with substance abuse and law run-ins.
He even got a year sentence in prison in 2017 as he pleaded guilty to tax fraud.
In 2019, D.M.X. canceled his concert tour to get treatment for his addiction as he said it was time to put his family and sobriety first.

“I just need to have a purpose. And I don’t even know that purpose, because God has given me that purpose since before I was in the womb, so I’m going to fulfill that purpose … whether I want to or not, whether I know it or not, because the story has already been written. If you appreciate the good, then you have to accept the bad.”

The cause of DMX’s death was a cocaine-induced heart attack, which resulted in a lack of blood flow to his brain, ultimately leading to his passing. A source from the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s office has officially confirmed this tragic news. The tragic incident that unfolded was primarily attributed to acute cocaine intoxication. Despite the medical team’s efforts to support him with a ventilator during his time in the hospital, DMX was diagnosed as brain-dead from the outset. Regrettably, he remained in a coma, never regaining consciousness throughout his ordeal. His death was a tragic outcome of this series of medical events.
